Park51 Plan: Mosque NEAR ground zero.
Well I have to start off by saying whether we like it of not, our country was founded on the grounds of religious freedom.
Now, I feel for those that still have a hard heart towards Muslims because of what happened on 9/11. I understand their confused and angry because of this mosque being built. I also have much respect for them expressing their concerns. BUT, I don't think they are right to be protesting, burning Korans and hating every Muslim. Is that really the kind of picture we want to paint to the rest of the world? That we are extremist in the sense that we can't communicate our differences like civilized people?
The Mosque is not being built ON ground zero..it is 2 blocks away, and if you people who are so quick to judge did your homework you would know that there is already a mosque 4 blocks away. Should they tear that one down too? We as Americans have the upper hand here, We can show the world that just because a few idiots who believe killing thousands of people is going to win them a seat in some extremist fucked up heaven , that doesn't mean we have to become hateful and bitter towards everyone else who is part of the Muslim religion, because again, if you did your homework you would know that the Muslim faith is actually very peaceful, more peaceful than the Christian faith.
Also, Has anyone checked to see how many peaceful Muslims were killed in 9/11? Have you wondered how those family's hurt? Saying that every Muslim is a terrorist is like saying every Catholic is a Child Molester. Yeah I said it because its true. Should we tear down every Catholic church in the country because countless little boys have been tormented at the hands of their priests? You can find crazy fucked up people in every religion around the world. We shouldn't single out one specific religion.
Personally, I feel that we are still fighting a war where the enemy may no longer exist. We need to move forward and embrace every religion, there are bigger battles to be fought out there, bigger evils than a mosque being built.
